Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 2026

At Deheritance, privacy isn't just a policy—it's our architecture. We are built on a Zero Knowledge foundation, meaning we cannot read, access, or sell your data even if we wanted to. Your digital legacy belongs to you, and you alone.

1. Zero Knowledge Promise

Deheritance operates on a "can't be evil" model rather than "don't be evil." Our systems are designed so that:

  • We do not hold your encryption keys. Only you possess the master keys to your vault.
  • We cannot decrypt your files. All encryption happens locally on your device before any data is stored.
  • We cannot recover your account. If you lose your keys and backup phrases, we cannot help you access your vault. This is the trade-off for absolute privacy.

2. Data Collection (Or Lack Thereof)

Unlike traditional web services, we minimize data collection to the absolute bare minimum required for the protocol to function.

What We Do Not Collect:

  • We do not scan your uploaded documents or photos.
  • We do not track your browsing history or behavioral data for advertising.
  • We do not store your passwords or private keys on our servers in plaintext.

3. Decentralized Storage

Your encrypted data is stored across decentralized networks (like Arweave and IPFS). This ensures that your legacy is:

  • Immutable: Usage of blockchain technology means your records cannot be altered or tampered with.
  • Permanent: Your data is not dependent on Deheritance as a company. Even if we cease to exist, the data remains on the decentralized network (though you will need your keys to decrypt it).

4. Payment Information

For one-time vault purchases, payment processing is handled by third-party providers (Stripe, PayPal, or Crypto processors). Deheritance does not store your full credit card number or implementation details.

5. Cookie Policy

We use essential cookies strictly for session management and security. We do not use third-party tracking cookies for targeted advertising.

6. Changes to This Policy

Given the immutable nature of our core technology, the fundamental promise of Zero Knowledge will not change. However, we may update administrative details of this policy. Updates will be timestamped at the top of this page.
